Well girls, it's that time of the year again. The day when retail giants and merchants all over the country cause the biggest shopping frenzy ever seen on the planet. However I thought twice about skipping Black Friday after watching this clip on how a woman feeds her family off of just $4 a week. Maybe the battle wounds are worth it.

Twinkle in Twilight Inspired Looks

So I went to go see New Moon tonight and boy was I bored! The first movie was pretty entertaining but the second one? Definitely geared towards a pre-teen romance genre. Despite the horrible acting and sappy plot line, I remained amused by the imagery and make-up artistry. For many beauty enthusiasts, the Twilight saga provides for some inspirational hair and make-up trends. In fact, people are already jumping on the Twilight beauty bandwagon and I don't mind joining them. Here are my top three Twilight trends that might help you make a bold statement during this holiday season.

Glowing Skin: No, I'm not talking about little Edwards sparkle-in-the-sun. No, no, no ladies, don't go glitter happy all over. What I'm talking about is Bella's glow. Her complexion is even, and her skin is radiant. In order to achieve this look, try using highlighter on your cheekbones and on the tip of your nose. Opt for a golden hue if your skin is darker and a rosy hue if your on the lighter side of the spectrum. Also try exfoliating gently before applying make-up in order to release your natural glow.

Stained Lips: Deeply stained lips against pale skin is definitely a bold vampy look sure to allure. To get just bitten lips (without actually drawing blood) try a dark cherry or berry stain such as CoverGirl Lip Tint in BerrySmooch

Dark Piercing Eyes: If looks could kill, Twilight eyes are definitely dangerous. The vampire eye will most likely be a hit amongst celebrities and beauty enthusiasts alike. Try lining your eyes with black or purple liner, then smudging it along the lid to create a smoky effect. If you want, go a step further and apply dark shadow up to the crease of your eye. Top if off with mascara. Keep it simple though, too much will take away from the natural color and shape of your eye.

So there you have it, my top three favorite Twilight inspired looks. If you haven't seen the movie, and aren't into the hype I suggest you wait until it drops on DVD. However, don't hesitate to try a vampy new look!

Please Ladies...Listen to Yourself Before You Speak

Okay, So I'm sure you've all heard the controversy with little Miss Ex California and I'm sure some of you sympathize with her point of view. Well recently she just came out with a book called, "Still Standing" which goes over her recent struggle with the media and her struggle with being a conservative woman in America.

She claims that conservative woman are not treated fairly amongst their liberal counterparts and are openly attacked on a personal level. Do you feel there is a double standard for conservative woman? If you don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about take a look at this clip below.

I personally seem to think that the media has been showcasing conservative woman who don't have a clue as to what they are talking about (including Ms. Prejean) and that is probably why they are easy targets.

Looks like I've been hit with the FLU

Hello there and welcome to flu season! That's the greeting I got early this week when I was suddenly slapped in the face with a 104 degree fever, nausea, and non stop coughing. Ughhh what a week it has been for me. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. For some reason my campus has been thriving with the flu virus (possibly swine ehhhh) and I was lucky enough to catch it. Well, here I am on a Friday night unable to enjoy the festivities that most students embark upon, sitting on my desk, coughing away, yet typing away. So my fellow readers, after feeling very dreary and un-pretty, I wanted to share with you guys a few tips on how to stay well kept during this harsh flu season. First of all, if your not sick don't get sick. Wash your hands! Don't be a me and attract germs like a dirty sponge. Stay away from the virus and get the shot! Now, for those of you couldn't seem to stay away from it here are a few ways you can try to look a little neat and well done.
  • Tie your hair in a tight bun: It's quite simple. A tight bun will allow you to forget about how your hair looks even though I'm sure that's not what you'll be thinking when your hiding under your covers.
  • Moisturize the hell out of your skin: When your sick, your skin is sick too. Trust me all this week I was fighting flaky skin and it wasn't helping my self-esteem. In the morning pile on two layers of moisturizer and if you have to go out bring a jar of Vaseline to protect your skin from the cold.
  • Swipe some blush on: If there is one make-up item you can't live without during this horrid time it's blush. Blush will hide the fact that your sick and give you a fake glow therefore you won't look like death.
Other than that ladies all I can say is good luck, stay warm and wash your hands because this season is a doozy.

Dirt Cheap Review: Pantene Full and Thick

Hello long time no speak huh? I know I've been down and out but I couldn't stand not sharing with you my favorite new shampoo and conditioner. Can you guess what it is? If you read the title you already got a head start. Now let me tell you, I'm usually not a big fan of Pantene hair products because they contain so much alcohol which can leave your hair dried out especially if you have thin hair like me. However, if you have thin hair and are looking to possibly change that (even though you can't thanks to good old genetics) you can make your hair seem a little more fuller with Pantene Full and Thick Shampoo and Conditioner.

You see I've been searching the market for some products that will thicken my hair. During all my research I've found you can't do that, BUT there are products that will make your hair seem thicker including Pantene Full and Thick. I actually first tried this product by accident, not even knowing it would be something I might like. A friend of mines let me take some of her shampoo to college with me because she knew that school makes you broke. So after I finished my DevaCurl conditioner which I loved, I started using Pantene Full and Thick Conditioner. As soon as it landed on my locks I noticed it detangled very nicely. However, after about three consecutive uses I noticed that my hair felt a little thicker! It fell very nicely on my shoulders and actually held it's structure (something that fine curly hair has a hard time doing). It also claims to strengthen fragile, brittle hair.

So in conclusion, if your looking for thick locks try out Pantene Full and Thick. The results aren't drastic, as with most hair products claiming that they will change your life, but it is well worth the five bucks!

Beauty Blunder #1: Use Your Own Freezer

So here's a little anecdote that will get your weekend rolling. Remember back in the day when I was promoting the hell out of green tea as de-puffers? Well last night I was in my mini spa state of mind and I decided to give myself a pedi, a mani, and a quick facial. As a part of my "facial," I decided to use green tea for my flu ridden eyes. So, being the lazy schmuck I am, I cooled the green tea pouches by placing them in my friends nearby mini fridge freezer while I continued my so called face detoxification.

After about fifteen minutes I skipped back to the freezer and managed to rip out one tea pouch successfully. "Wow," I thought. "Looks like I left them in too long." Then, I motioned on to the next pouch and began to scour when.... oh crap... the tea pouch ripped apart. I immediately ran over to the table and grabbed a knife and proceeded to carve the pouch out of its frozen grave. However, to my demise the pouch fell apart leaving tea morsels all over my friends mini fridge.

So there I was, standing in front my friends mini fridge, with a knife...scraping tea out of her freezer. How do you explain that one?

"So yeah girl! Like I was putting green tea pouches on my face and I got kind hungry so I went to your fridge to look for some ice cream and the tea pouch on my eye exploded. Sorry!"

Or how about this one.

"It was crazy! When I put my tea pouch into hot water it exploded all over the place and your refrigerator door just happened to be open! What a coincidence!"

Yeah... there is no explaining that one.

A word of advice for the wise: don't do weird beauty treatments using other peoples stuff. It might just save you the awkward speech in the end.

P.S. Got a beauty blunder of your own? Tell me about it and I might just blog about it...sparing your identify of course :)
